Job Description Summary

An exciting opportunity for a Research Associate to join the Department of Chemistry at the University of York, working on the cutting-edge Moorhen project to transform the world-leading protein editing and validation program “Coot” into a web browser-based application. This 3-year position offers flexible working arrangements and the chance to work with renowned experts in structural biology. 🔬

Responsibilities

  • Analyze user experience and collaborate with scientists and industrial users to enhance Moorhen
  • Port functionality from existing Coot, CCP4mg, and other structural biology software
  • Implement graphical presentation methods using Typescript and C++ for WebAssembly compilation
  • Manage source code repositories and servers effectively
  • Develop and maintain testing frameworks
  • Write research papers and present findings at conferences
  • Contribute to undergraduate teaching in your area of expertise
  • Provide guidance to other staff and students
  • Coordinate small research teams when required
