📋 Director of Academics Responsibilities
As the Director of Academics, you will assume ownership and responsibility for developing and supporting the school’s instructional staff through:

- Conducting weekly lesson plan reviews to ensure alignment with educational standards and best practices

- Monitoring student achievement data to inform instructional decisions and improvements
- Designing and overseeing intervention programs based on student needs while monitoring program effectiveness
- Building collaborative relationships with parents to foster confidence in teachers and the instructional program
- Coordinating special projects such as peer mentoring, service learning, and community involvement initiatives
- Working closely with school leadership to align academic initiatives with the school’s mission and values
🎯 Qualifications and Experience Requirements
Education and Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in education required (Master’s degree preferred)
- Active professional teacher certification
Experience
- Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience
- Two years of experience as an Instructional Coach, Teacher Leader, or in a related position (strongly preferred)
- Demonstrated track record of building positive working relationships with multiple stakeholders including staff, students, parents, board members, and authorizers
- Proven results in increasing student achievement on relevant state test measures
- Experience using multiple data sources to assess student performance and plan instruction
- Urban and/or school turnaround experience is considered a plus
Knowledge and Skills
- In-depth knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards
- Strong written and verbal communication skills reflecting professionalism and tact
- Computer literacy and proficiency with educational technology
- Meticulous attention to detail and organizational abilities
