Responsibilities

Competitive Summer Student Salary Structure
The YRDSB offers competitive compensation for summer students, with rates varying based on age, education level, and position type:
- Summer Institute or Corporate Student (under 18 years without Secondary School Graduation Diploma): $16.20/hour plus 4% vacation pay
- Summer Institute (18+ years or completed Secondary School Graduation Diploma): $17.20/hour plus 4% vacation pay
- Corporate Student (18+ years or completed Secondary School Graduation Diploma): $20.00/hour plus 4% vacation pay
- IT Summer Co-op Student (18+ years or completed Secondary School Graduation Diploma): $22.50/hour plus 4% vacation pay

Summer Student Application Process
Application Process
- Review the position requirements and qualifications

- If selected, participate in the interview process
- Complete required pre-employment checks, including a Police Vulnerable Sector Check
Application Deadline
Applications for the 2025 Summer Student positions must be submitted by April 25, 2025. Note that hiring will take place on an ongoing basis from March through July as departmental needs arise.
How to Apply
Online applications are collected centrally at the Education Centre – Aurora and are monitored by Human Resource Services. All applications will be screened based on required education, experience, and qualifications. Only qualified candidates meeting these criteria will be contacted to participate in the selection process.
Important Requirements
As a condition of employment and in accordance with the Education Act, all successful candidates must provide a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC). This check must be: – Completed by police services in your jurisdiction of residence – Satisfactory to the YRDSB – Completed within six months prior to the scheduled start date
The YRDSB will accept satisfactory PVSCs naming other school boards and employers requiring police checks for vulnerable persons in Ontario if obtained within the last six months.
Remote Work Policy
These summer student positions require on-site presence at various YRDSB locations throughout York Region. Remote work options are not available for these positions.
