As a Security Guard at the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the safety and security of one of Europe’s leading cancer research facilities. Responsibilities
In this pivotal role, your key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting regular security patrols of the main institute building, grounds, and energy centre
- Monitoring site-wide CCTV systems and responding promptly to various alarms
- Performing reception duties as required, providing a friendly and professional first point of contact
- Assisting with emergency services coordination during incidents
- Carrying out fire alarm system checks and responding to fire alarms
- Providing first aid coverage when on duty
- Dealing with out-of-hours deliveries and assisting research personnel with access requests
- Completing incident reports and following instructions from supervisors and staff

A: The role involves working alternating shift patterns covering 365 days per year. Currently, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the shift system consists of 4 days on (07:00 – 19:00), 4 days off, 4 nights on (19:00 – 07:00), 4 days off.

A: Yes, overtime may be available and will be paid for hours worked over and above full-time hours and on Bank Holidays.
