Job Description Summary

🔬 Exciting opportunity for a fully funded PhD studentship at the University of Cambridge, focusing on improving the efficiency of hydrogen generation through electrolysis. Responsibilities

  • Investigate the processes behind nucleation, growth, and separation of bubbles in alkaline electrolysers
  • Conduct research at macroscopic, microscopic, and nanoscopic lengthscales
  • Analyze bubble formation and behavior at various timescales under industrially-relevant operating conditions
  • Develop models for bubble nucleation, growth, and separation processes
  • Design and create electrode surfaces that facilitate rapid bubble removal
  • Perform Optical electron and Atomic Force Microscopy-based mapping and characterisation of electrode structures
  • Conduct advanced functional property imaging (surface potential, grain structure, chemical functionality)
