Job Description Summary
The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) is seeking a Clinical Senior Lecturer to lead work-based learning for the BDS-International route in the School of Medicine and Dentistry. This role combines educational leadership, quality assurance, and clinical expertise to ensure exceptional training for dental students across various settings.
Responsibilities
- Lead quality assurance and management of work-based learning aspects for the BDSi programme, ensuring compliance with UCLan and General Dental Council (GDC) requirements.
- Collaborate with Enhanced Training Practices (ETPs) and secondary care providers to maintain consistent learning environments and develop data-driven curriculum improvements.
- Establish and review Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with clinical placement providers, working alongside the BDS Lead and UCLan Legal Services.
- Manage and monitor standards of work-based staff providing supervision, ensuring consistency through training and regular reviews.
- Coordinate work-based learning academic timetables and oversee annual placement schedules in collaboration with the BDS Lead and Quality Officer.
- Contribute to teaching, assessment, and development of research and knowledge transfer opportunities.
- Act as Module Lead, undertaking associated administrative and assessment tasks.
- Liaise with professional bodies and maintain up-to-date knowledge of GDC, Care Quality Commission, and other regulatory standards.
- Serve as an Academic Advisor to a small number of students and participate in student recruitment activities.
- Assist in developing and maintaining links with external agencies across relevant health and social care economies.
