📋 Youth Transition Worker Responsibilities

  • Working within a trauma-informed, strength-based framework from a DEI perspective

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • A college or university degree/diploma in child and youth work or equivalent education
  • Minimum two years’ experience in a shelter or residential setting
  • Knowledge of adolescent developmental theory and specific issues related to street youth
  • Up-to-date UMAB (Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behavior) Training
  • Ability to identify, assess, and intervene differentially with youth in crisis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of community resources
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work from a trauma-informed perspective
  • First Aid, CPR certification, and basic computer skills (assets for the role)
