Widening Access Assistant Manager: Fostering Inclusivity at Durham University

Job Description Summary
The Widening Access and Participation Assistant Manager will play a crucial role in developing and delivering initiatives to inspire, educate, and support young people from traditionally underrepresented groups in higher education. Working within the Student Recruitment and Admission’s Widening Access and Participation Team, you’ll contribute to the university’s commitment to fair access and diversity, as outlined in Durham’s Education Strategy and Access and Participation Plan.
Responsibilities
- Support the development and delivery of sustained, progressive outreach programs targeting underrepresented student groups, including those of Asian and Black heritage, and from lower socio-economic backgrounds
- Facilitate collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance outreach efforts
- Coordinate and deliver a wide range of engaging activities for young people, including presentations, workshops, and residential programs
- Contribute to the management and supervision of Durham Student Ambassadors
- Assist in implementing widening participation strategies and fulfilling Access and Participation Plan requirements
- Support broader Student Recruitment and Admissions activities, such as school visits, open days, and UCAS fairs
- Develop and maintain relationships with target schools and colleges
- Create engaging materials and resources for young people, including online content
- Analyze data and provide reports on widening participation initiatives
