Job Description Summary

🎥 Join Octavia Foundation as a Digital Videographer & Designer supporting their youth-led production team, Base Productions. This role combines creative videography, editing, and design skills to produce compelling digital content while mentoring young people in media production.

Responsibilities

Videography and Production 📹

  • Provide lead videography for Base Productions, responding to both external commissions and internal briefs from the Communications team
  • Work within strict deadlines to deliver excellent youth-led digital content that meets aspirational standards
  • Support the pre-production process including locations scouting, scheduling, and casting
  • Provide production support for core youth projects and commissioned work, supervising shoots
  • Collaborate with the Creative Producer to maintain valuable relationships with existing external partners
  • Help identify potential collaborators, facilitators, and new partners to inform the wider creative production strategy

Video Editing and Design 🎬

  • Deliver comprehensive video editing for youth-led core projects and commissioned projects
  • Perform assistant editing for Creative Producer, offline editing, and color grading based on project requirements
  • Create digital arts content for the Communications team, working within Octavia’s branding guidelines
  • Photograph events and activities to a professional standard, documenting Octavia’s impactful community work
  • Develop and maintain the digital identity for Base Productions in collaboration with the Creative Producer
  • Create a brand identity that appeals to young people and potential partners while providing clear visibility to diverse media work

Youth Mentorship and Development 👥

  • Attend weekly professional approaches film workshops, supporting young people’s skill development
  • Work with youth groups to develop ideas in response to purposeful briefs
  • Be an active part of their learning and production process
  • Provide guidance to ensure team members value diversity and effectively integrate people from different backgrounds

Digital Content Management 💻

  • Oversee digital output for Base Productions through social media channels
  • Maintain interactions with relevant stakeholders
  • Create content that helps cultivate a forward-thinking digital portrait of Octavia’s community work
  • Utilize knowledge of digital trends to effectively engage various audience segments

Videographer Design Skills and Experience Required

Experience

  • Working to specific briefs under strict deadlines
  • Supporting diverse teams and integrating people from different backgrounds
  • Working with young people, particularly those aged 13-25 years
  • Building consistent brand identities that reach primary target audiences while maintaining flexibility for secondary audiences

Knowledge

  • Understanding different forms of video content (promotional, narrative film, social media, documentary)
  • Familiarity with pre-production processes in filmmaking
  • Awareness of media production schedules and different stages from pre-production to post
  • Knowledge of current digital trends and how to effectively leverage them
  • Strong grasp of social media trends and brand tone across various platforms

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • Strong technical skills with filmmaking equipment including Black Magic Camera, DJI Ronin, and radio mic setups
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with diverse audiences both in-person and online
  • Strong design capabilities with expertise in composition and color theory
