Job Description Summary

Birmingham City University is seeking qualified Social Work Practice Educators to join their team as Visiting Lecturers in the Social Work Department. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support and guide students across Birmingham and the surrounding region during their placements as an Off-site Practice Educator.

Responsibilities

  • Provide off-site practice education support to social work students during their placements

Q: What qualifications are required for this role?

A: Applicants must be qualified Social Workers with Stage 1 and 2 Practice Educator certifications.

Q: How many hours can I claim for student placements?

A: For full final placements, you can claim up to 33.5 hours. For first placements, you can claim up to 23.5 hours, subject to student completion.

Q: Is this a permanent position?

A: This is a part-time, fixed-term contract position. The specific amount of hours will be agreed upon between you and the Faculty.

Q: How often will I be paid? A: As a Visiting Lecturer, you can submit monthly claims for pay using our online system.

Q: Will I be guaranteed teaching hours?

A: Teaching hours are not guaranteed. You will be contacted by the Faculty when relevant teaching opportunities that match your expertise become available.

Q: How long will my application be kept on file?

A: Recruitment pools are closed at the end of September each year. You will be contacted to resubmit your details for the following year’s recruitment pool if you wish to be considered.
