Job Description Summary

Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Lecturer to join the School of Computer Science and Mathematics. Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

  • Design and deliver high-quality teaching materials across a range of modules in computer science
  • Set, mark, and assess assignments and examinations, providing timely and constructive feedback
  • Develop innovative approaches to teaching and learning that reflect evolving practices
  • Produce teaching materials informed by current research and scholarship
  • Supervise and support student learning activities, including projects and field trips
  • Provide academic support and guidance as a personal tutor
  • Contribute to programme development and enhancement of teaching quality
  • Participate in accreditation and quality assurance processes

Research and Scholarship

  • Develop research objectives, projects, and proposals
  • Collaborate with colleagues to secure external funding through research grants and contracts
  • Conduct nationally and internationally recognized research
  • Disseminate research through high-quality publications and conferences
  • Engage in knowledge exchange activities and establish links with industry
  • Contribute to the supervision of postgraduate research students

Leadership and Management

  • Mentor colleagues and advise on personal development
  • Coordinate modules, programmes, or significant sections of programmes
  • Plan and coordinate engagement projects and external activities
  • Handle administrative duties in areas such as admissions and examinations

Citizenship

  • Contribute to a supportive working environment and develop productive relationships
  • Participate in school meetings and assist with committees and working parties
  • Contribute to wider university activities such as open days and recruitment events
  • Build internal and external links to enhance teaching and research activities
  • Engage in institutional widening participation and outreach activities
