The University of Chicago’s Section of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Surgery is seeking a dedicated Research Statistician to perform a broad range of operational activities related to collecting, organizing, visualizing, and analyzing research data. This role involves implementing state-of-the-art methodologies for imaging and data analysis within a world-class academic medical environment focused on improving care for women with pelvic floor disorders.

📋 Key Research Statistician Responsibilities

• Assist in analyzing data to extract applicable information and perform research projects that provide analysis for various programs and initiatives
• Support staff and faculty members with data manipulation, statistical applications, programming, analysis, and modeling on both scheduled and ad-hoc bases
• Collect, organize, and analyze information from the University’s various internal data systems as well as from external sources
• Maintain and analyze statistical models using general knowledge of best practices in machine learning and statistical inference
• Perform maintenance on large and complex research and administrative datasets and respond to requests while engaging other IT resources as needed
• Collaborate with researchers in designing, implementing, and monitoring research projects while assuming primary responsibility for the analysis and presentation of project data
• Assist in developing objectives, designing sampling, randomization, and data collection procedures to achieve study objectives with researcher guidance
• Analyze data and prepare tables for interim and final reports while designing tables and statistical procedures for specific research studies
• Maintain collaboration with other research support personnel, including analysts and programmers in monitoring and assessing data quality

🏆 Required Qualifications for Statistical Research Position

The ideal candidate for this Research Statistician position will possess:

• A college or university degree in a related field (preferably statistics, biostatistics, or similar)
• Knowledge and skills developed through less than 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline
• Proficiency in statistical programming languages
• Experience with REDCap
• Familiarity with software used for statistical analyses (R, Python, SAS, SPSS, Stata, etc.)
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary collaborative environment
