Job Description Summary
The Research and Finance Manager will lead a team of Senior Research Group Administrators while providing first-class support to academic staff for all research and finance administration needs within the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Imperial College London.
Research and Finance Management Responsibilities 📊
This pivotal role requires exceptional leadership skills combined with meticulous attention to financial detail. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Leading a team of Senior Research Group Administrators, providing supervision, guidance, and professional development opportunities
- Serving as the primary research and finance operations contact point between the Department and Faculty
- Providing comprehensive support to academic staff with management of research and finance administration
- Ensuring funds are spent within institutional and funding body guidelines
- Monitoring income and expenditure across a wide-ranging research portfolio
- Staying abreast of changes to University policies and procedures
- Continuously improving departmental processes to streamline work and ensure accuracy
- Supporting the Research Strategy Group on current and future research portfolio planning
- Assisting the Director of Operations during annual budgeting rounds and end-of-year financial processes
- Troubleshooting complex research finance issues as they arise
- Developing and implementing new systems to improve financial tracking and reporting
