Job Description Summary

The University of Birmingham seeks a Research Fellow to join the NIHR Global Health Research Unit on Global Surgery (GSU), focusing on making NHS surgery more sustainable. This role is part of a pioneering 4-year project led by Prof. Aneel Bhangu, aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of operating theaters.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement research methodologies for sustainable surgery initiatives
  • Conduct comprehensive literature reviews and scoping exercises
  • Analyze and interpret data using both quantitative and qualitative techniques
  • Develop research objectives and protocols for surgical sustainability studies
  • Contribute to writing research papers, reports, and funding bids
  • Present findings at conferences and research seminars
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on health economics and patient involvement
