Job Description Summary
Cardiff University’s School of Computer Science and Informatics is seeking a talented Research Associate to contribute to the EPSRC Open Fellowship project ReStoRe (Reasoning about Structured Story Representations). This role offers a unique opportunity to advance the field of story-level language understanding through innovative research in commonsense reasoning and graph-structured story representations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct cutting-edge research in Learning & Reasoning, focusing on developing commonsense reasoning strategies for story understanding
- Contribute to the overall research performance of the School and University through measurable outputs, including funding bids and publications in academic journals and conferences
- Develop research objectives and proposals for individual or joint research projects
- Attend and present at local and national conferences and seminars
- Undertake administrative tasks associated with the research project, including planning, organization, and accurate reporting
- Prepare research ethics and governance applications as required
- Review and synthesize existing research literature within the field
- Participate in School research activities and build networks both internally and externally to the university
- Engage with industrial, commercial, and public sector organizations to raise awareness of the School’s profile and pursue collaboration opportunities
