Job Description Summary

The University of Cambridge is seeking an enthusiastic post-doctoral scientist to join Prof Ravi Gupta’s research group. This role focuses on studying macrophage cell cycle regulation using biochemistry, cell biology, and viruses as tools to probe cellular pathways.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research on macrophage cell cycle states and their transition without cell division
• Investigate the MEK/ERK cascade and its role in deactivating the retroviral restriction factor SAMHD1
• Explore physiological triggers, such as low oxygen, that drive cell cycle progression in macrophages
• Collaborate with team members to advance understanding of macrophage biology and its implications for innate and adaptive immunity
• Contribute to ongoing research projects and publications related to macrophage cell cycle regulation
• Assist in the development and optimization of experimental protocols
• Analyze and interpret complex data sets using appropriate statistical methods
• Present research findings at internal meetings and external conferences
• Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals
• Mentor and train junior researchers and students in the laboratory

Remote Work Policy

This position is based on-site at the Cambridge Institute of Therapeutic Immunology and Infectious Disease (CITIID) on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. While some flexibility may be offered, regular presence in the laboratory is required due to the nature of the research.

A: Funds for this position are available for three years in the first instance.

A: Yes, candidates who have submitted but not yet received their PhD will be appointed at Research Assistant level, which will be amended to Research Associate once the PhD has been awarded.
