Imperial College London invites applications for a Research Associate position within the Centre for Cold Matter. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage in pioneering research aimed at detecting dark matter axions using advanced microwave cavity techniques and quantum sensors.
🎯 Responsibilities
- Dark Matter Axion Search: Conduct the inaugural search for dark matter axions utilizing a high-Q microwave cavity integrated with cryogenic low-noise amplifiers.
- Quantum Sensor Development: Innovate and integrate quantum sensors, such as trapped electron microwave photon counters, into the experimental apparatus for future searches.
- Prototype Enhancement: Collaborate with PhD students and the research team to refine the all-dielectric cavity prototype for installation into a dilution refrigerator equipped with an 8 T magnet.
- Research Dissemination: Document and publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at international conferences.
- Collaborative Engagement: Liaise with internal and external collaborators, contribute to lab maintenance, and support the administration of the research team.
