Research Project Background

The CONNECT (COmmuNity eNgagEment and partiCipaTion of adults with learning disabilities) project is a significant initiative funded by the National Institute for Health and Social Care Research (NIHR). Based in the Intellectual Disabilities Research Institute (IDRIS) at the University of Birmingham, this project brings together leading researchers from multiple institutions:

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive data collection through various research methods, including scientific experimentation, literature reviews, and research interviews with people with learning disabilities and their carers
• Perform detailed analysis of research data following established methodologies
• Draft and present research outputs, including academic publications and seminar presentations
• Develop and adapt research techniques, models, and methods as needed
• Provide guidance to support staff and students involved in the research
• Manage and resolve problems affecting research objectives and deadlines
• Handle administrative tasks related to research delivery
• Promote equality and foster an inclusive working culture

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Degree in a relevant subject area
• Demonstrated experience in applying research skills and techniques
• Strong analytical abilities and effective communication skills
• Excellent resource management and organizational capabilities
• Comprehensive understanding of the Equality Act 2010’s protected characteristics
• Ability to ensure fair and equal treatment of all individuals
