Job Description Summary

The University of Luxembourg is seeking a talented Postdoctoral Researcher to join their Department of Physics and Materials Science for a two-year project focused on developing new ab-initio methods for calculating luminescence spectra of 2D materials. This exciting opportunity offers the chance to work at the forefront of theoretical and computational solid-state physics, with a specific focus on materials with indirect bandgap and exciton-phonon coupling.

Responsibilities

  • Develop innovative ab-initio methods for calculating luminescence spectra of 2D materials
  • Focus on materials with indirect bandgap, incorporating exciton-phonon coupling for accurate description of phonon-assisted luminescence
  • Collaborate with team members and contribute to the research goals of Prof. Ludger Wirtz’s group
  • Utilize and enhance programming skills in the context of ab-initio electronic structure codes
  • Apply methods of many-body perturbation theory, particularly the GW approximation and the Bethe-Salpeter-Equation
  • Contribute to scientific publications and presentations of research findings
  • Participate in relevant conferences and workshops to disseminate research results
