Job Description Summary

Christ’s College, Cambridge is seeking a talented and experienced Pastry Chef to lead the pastry section of our kitchen. This role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary expertise in a prestigious academic setting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the pastry section of the kitchen, taking responsibility for daily operations, maintaining high standards, and organizing orders with the Storekeeper.
  • Ensure innovation in the pastry section by following trends and seasonality, developing new product ranges, and updating dessert menus as required.
  • Delegate tasks and preparation to other chefs where appropriate, mentoring and motivating junior chefs and kitchen porters.
  • Produce and present high-quality pastry products and desserts for all catering services in the College, meeting the expectations of the Head Chef and Executive Head Chef.
  • Ensure adherence to food safety policies and complete all required documentation.
  • Liaise effectively with team members, other College departments, external customers, and service providers.
  • Assist in receiving and storing goods, following correct storage and rotation methods for food.
  • Work within budget constraints while maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety.
  • Complete and maintain cleaning records, raising any concerns to the Head Chef and Executive Head Chef.
  • Lead by example in adhering to kitchen structure, processes, food safety guidance, and service rules.
