Job Description Summary

The School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Birmingham is seeking an experienced and ambitious academic specializing in silicon tracking detectors to take on the role of Director of the Birmingham Instrumentation Laboratory for Particle physics and Applications (BILPA). This prestigious position offers the opportunity to lead cutting-edge research and development in particle physics instrumentation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct the BILPA facility, overseeing a team of academics, postdoctoral researchers, engineers, and technicians
  • Spearhead major construction projects, including contributions to silicon-strip detectors for the ATLAS ITk upgrade at the LHC
