Job Description Summary
This ambulatory nursing leadership role serves as a vital member of Columbia University’s healthcare leadership team, responsible for organizing and directing nursing care delivery across assigned ColumbiaDoctors locations while implementing quality improvement initiatives and maintaining regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
🔍 Clinical Oversight and Quality Management: Accountable for collaborating with providers, administrative and clinical managers to achieve practice-wide clinical goals and metrics. Monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) and implements performance improvement initiatives related to nursing practice. Continuously seeks and implements operational improvements in clinical flow using electronic medical record dashboards and reports.
📋 Policy Implementation and Regulatory Compliance: Implements standardized policies, procedures, and workflows related to nursing care, infection control, regulatory compliance, and clinical issues across the organization. Keeps current on all organizational and regulatory compliance requirements including infection control, public safety, HIPAA, and OSHA regulations.
👥 Staff Leadership and Development: Fosters patient and family-centered care through mentorship, coaching, and education of clinical staff. Supports recruitment and retention strategies, assesses nursing and clinical support development needs, identifies goals, and provides resources for staff advancement. Develops and implements clinical competencies for staff at all levels.
🔄 Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborates with medical leadership to develop and implement clinical triage protocols. Contributes to population health and care coordination initiatives. Prepares and delivers reports to administrative and medical leadership outlining progress towards meeting organizational goals and objectives.
🏗️ Practice Development: Participates in planning and opening new sites with focus on clinical staff requirements, workflows, selection of clinical equipment, and patient-centered office flow. Leads clinical staff huddles and meetings to align clinical team with organizational strategy, new initiatives, programs, and policies.
