Job Description Summary
The Marketing and Advertising Manager at Stanford Live plays a key role in developing, executing, and optimizing comprehensive marketing initiatives designed to promote world-class performing arts programs, ultimately driving audience growth and organizational success.
Responsibilities
📧 Marketing Campaign Development and Execution
- Plan and execute email marketing campaigns that align with communications and brand strategy across channels, supporting ongoing sales campaigns for Stanford Live performances, Stanford Live Arts Festival, and Goldenvoice co-presentations
- Conduct AB testing and audience segmentation to achieve maximum click-throughs and conversion
- Collaborate with the Director of Sales & Marketing on advertising strategy and execution, ensuring campaigns are targeted and effective
- Update Stanford Live website with current event information and promotional content
- Oversee the creation of marketing printed collateral, collaborating with graphic designers, printers, and cross-functional teams
📈 Revenue Management and Analysis
- Manage dynamic pricing and capacity planning for performances to maximize revenue potential, in partnership with the Director of Sales & Marketing
- Conduct competitive benchmarking and evaluate campaign effectiveness
- Gather audience data through surveys and research to support marketing goals and inform sales strategy
- Support budget management by assisting with vendor estimates, invoices, and overall marketing program costs
🤝 Collaboration and Event Support
- Implement marketing plans/programs to meet business objectives, including collaboration with internal stakeholders, vendor partners, and community partners
- Attend Stanford Live events as needed by the marketing department
- Work cross-functionally both within the organization and with community stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment

Remote Work Policy
This position will be based on the Stanford campus and will be considered hybrid with the expectation to be on-site 2-3 days per week depending on events. In addition, this position will require working some evenings and weekends to support Stanford Live performances and events.
Marketing Manager Skills and Qualifications Needed
To excel in this Stanford marketing position, you should bring:
- Bachelor’s degree and minimum two years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience
- Exceptional writing skills (required)
- Familiarity with email marketing tools and software (WordFly, Prospect 2, Hubspot, Spectrix, Tessitura preferred) and best practices
- Detail-oriented approach and ability to work independently to meet deadlines
- Experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders
- Knowledge of marketing across channels including digital and print
- Creative problem-solving abilities
- Familiarity with market research and data analysis
- Comfort using Adobe Suite, basic HTML, Canva, and Asana
- Familiarity with the arts is highly preferred
