Job Description Summary

📚 As a Learning Experience Designer at WSIB Ontario, you’ll collaborate with stakeholders to create learner-centric experiences that enable continuous learning, applying design thinking principles and adult learning methodologies to develop effective solutions that achieve business outcomes.

Responsibilities

🔍 Learning Strategy Development

  • Establish relationships with clients, business partners, and subject matter experts across the organization
  • Provide workplace learning performance advice and expertise in scoping, planning, and creating learning strategies
  • Advise on selection of appropriate learning modalities, media, methods, and delivery channels
  • Maintain connections with industry trends to stay current in instructional design and learning technologies
  • Contribute to learning design standards, style guides, templates, and processes
  • Lead execution of deliverables to ensure timelines are met

🧠 Design Thinking Implementation

  • Apply design thinking approach to conduct learning needs analysis and technology assessments
  • Develop empathy maps, learner personas, stakeholder analyses, and experience maps
  • Create performance-based learning objectives that close performance gaps
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to translate knowledge into effective learning products
  • Curate existing knowledge and learning content, assessing and customizing resources

🎨 Learning Experience Creation

  • Design comprehensive end-to-end learning experiences for critical training moments
  • Develop experience design documents outlining learning journeys, evaluation plans, and technical architecture
  • Create performance-based learning products using various media and modalities including:
    • Virtual and in-person instructor-led training
    • Social learning networks
    • Self-paced eLearning modules
    • Practice activities and simulations
    • Podcasts, videos, and interactive media
    • Mobile applications and games
    • Learner portals and knowledge repositories

🛠️ Technical Development

  • Utilize authoring tools including Articulate 360, Adobe Creative Suite, Camtasia, and Microsoft 365
  • Create storyboards, scripts, facilitator guides, presentation decks, and performance support tools
  • Develop prototypes, coordinate user testing, and iterate designs using agile techniques
  • Create or select appropriate audio-visual elements consistent with learning and brand standards
  • Perform quality assurance on deliverables to ensure requirements and standards are met
  • Implement SCORM or xAPI compliant coding for learning management systems

📊 Evaluation & Implementation

  • Design measurement and evaluation plans to assess learning effectiveness
  • Create assessments, knowledge checks, and performance tests to measure learner proficiency
  • Analyze results and make recommendations regarding attainment of objectives
  • Support implementation through train-the-trainer sessions
  • Assist with technical troubleshooting during learning delivery
  • Maintain learning programs to ensure content remains current and accurate
