Intellectual Property Responsibilities and Duties

As an Intellectual Property Strategy Officer at Imperial College London, you will take on several critical responsibilities that span compliance, revenue management, and technology transfer facilitation. Your primary duties will include:

• Research Security Compliance Management: Develop and maintain robust systems, processes, and notifications necessary for compliance with government research security regimes, particularly focusing on export control licensing and national security investment notifications.

• Reward Distribution Administration: Verify and manage the Reward to Inventors Scheme, ensuring appropriate distribution of commercialization revenue to the researchers who created the technologies being commercialized.

• IP Transfer Facilitation: Coordinate the transfer process for intellectual property that Imperial has chosen not to commercialize, helping inventors who wish to pursue commercialization opportunities independently.

• Student IP Due Diligence: Conduct thorough due diligence on student intellectual property disclosures and issue official IP clearance letters according to institutional policies.

• Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with academic researchers, legal professionals, and commercial partners to facilitate smooth technology transfer processes and maximize positive impact.

• Documentation Management: Maintain comprehensive records of all intellectual property activities, ensuring transparency and compliance with institutional and governmental requirements.
