🔬 Job Description Summary

The FAAM Airborne Laboratory is seeking an Instrument Development and Integration Engineer to develop and integrate a state-of-the-art aerosol measurement instrument for their research aircraft. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to world-class atmospheric science research and be part of an exciting Mid-Life Upgrade project.

🛠️ Responsibilities

  • Design and develop a new instrument for measuring airborne aerosol particle concentration and sizes
  • Create data logging and display software for the new instrument
  • Test and integrate the instrument with the research aircraft
  • Provide design specifications to British Aerospace for aircraft installation
  • Publish design blueprints on an open-source repository
  • Provide progress updates and present outcomes at conferences and meetings
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and technicians
  • Participate in fieldwork deployments, including potential flights on the research aircraft
