Job Description Summary
Join Imperial College London as an Assistant HR Partner providing maternity cover for 12 months, supporting the HR Partner in delivering high-quality HR services across the Faculty of Engineering.
HR Partner Responsibilities
- Proactively partner with managers to provide day-to-day HR advice and guidance on various employee-related issues including sickness absence, performance improvement, capability, and probation matters
- Develop tactical solutions for complex workplace situations, ensuring alignment with institutional policies
- Advise on personal and sensitive issues while ensuring actions comply with Imperial’s HR policies, statutory requirements, and employment legislation
- Support the HR Partner and collaborate with specialist HR staff on complex cases requiring additional expertise
- Analyze problems, identify root causes, and develop appropriate solution options for managers
- Communicate HR policies, procedures, and rationales clearly to stakeholders across the faculty
- Handle difficult situations with professionalism, diplomacy, and sensitivity
- Contribute to the delivery of an excellent, flexible, proactive, and customer-focused HR service
HR Partner Qualifications and Skills
The ideal candidate will possess: – Experience as an HR professional in either a generalist or specialist environment – Practical knowledge applying employment law principles in workplace scenarios – Experience managing complex employee cases and organizational change processes – Strong understanding of current employment legislation and HR best practices – Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify root causes of problems – Outstanding communication abilities – able to explain complex information clearly and concisely – Diplomatic and assertive communication style appropriate for diverse stakeholders – Self-motivated with a proactive approach to work – Ability to confidently explain the rationale behind HR advice and decisions – Professional approach to handling sensitive and confidential matters
