📋 Job Description Summary
Allianz Commercial is seeking an experienced Head of Legal and Compliance for Canada to provide strategic legal leadership and compliance oversight. 🎯 Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Governance
- Serve as a member of the Canada Leadership Team (CLT) and Canada Steering Committee (CSC)
- Provide proactive regional governance and strategic legal advice to senior management
- Coordinate legal and compliance policies regarding Canadian federal and provincial regulations
- Assess legal and compliance risks while overseeing company processes through active governance
Legal and Compliance Management
- Manage comprehensive Canadian legal and compliance matters across all business areas
- Identify, assess, and manage legal, reputational, and regulatory risks
- Serve as primary regulatory interface for all compliance-related matters
- Coordinate reporting of legal and compliance matters to regulators and Allianz Group areas
Operational Legal Support
- Provide day-to-day legal guidance to all levels of Canada branch staff and senior management
- Support Finance North America (NA) / Canada and Canada Operations Team
- Manage matters outsourced to external legal counsel in collaboration with NA Legal
- Participate actively in Canadian branch contract activities and negotiations
Regulatory and Industry Engagement
- Oversee branch’s corporate maintenance, business licenses, and corporate governance records
- Support regulatory audits, market conduct, licensing, and regulatory filings
- Represent the branch at industry association committees and working groups
- Serve as Ombudsperson for AGRUS and Allianz Life operations
Specialized Legal Functions
- Provide advice on Canadian product development and insurance policy wordings
- Review and draft distribution contracts including Broker, Program, and MGA Contracts
- Advise on marketing communications, trademarks, advertising, and brand matters
- Keep abreast of Canadian industry trends and regulatory developments
