Lead Innovations for Poverty Action’s global human resources function as Sr. Director of Global HR, developing and implementing HR strategies across multiple countries while ensuring alignment with organizational goals and local compliance.

Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) is seeking an experienced Sr. Director of Global HR to lead their international HR function across multiple regions. This pivotal leadership role offers the unique opportunity to work with diverse teams committed to using evidence in fighting global poverty.

As the Global HR Director, you’ll shape HR strategies that support IPA’s mission while navigating the complexities of multinational HR operations. This position combines strategic leadership with hands-on management, requiring someone who can develop global policies while understanding regional nuances.

🔍 Key Responsibilities

Global HR Operations Management

  • Develop and implement comprehensive HR policies and procedures that maintain consistency while ensuring compliance with various local laws and regulations across multiple countries
  • Oversee and optimize HRIS and other HR systems, with focus on data accuracy, security, and usability for global teams
  • Create and implement effective HR metrics and reporting systems to track key performance indicators across regions
  • Guide the strategic direction of the global HR function to support organizational objectives

International Talent Excellence

  • Spearhead strategies for attracting, developing, and retaining top talent across diverse global markets
  • Incorporate the Competency Framework throughout the employee lifecycle to strengthen organizational capabilities
  • Refine and enhance performance management processes to drive productivity and engagement
  • Provide strategic oversight to the Learning and Development function to build organizational capabilities

Global Compensation & Benefits Strategy

  • Design and maintain equitable, transparent compensation structures across all Country Offices and US-based operations
  • Ensure competitiveness of compensation packages while maintaining compliance with local regulations
  • Regularly review and update benefits offerings to remain attractive in various markets
  • Develop cost-effective approaches to total rewards that support recruitment and retention goals

Cross-Cultural Employee Relations

  • Lead Employee Relations initiatives that address the diverse needs of a multinational workforce
  • Provide expert counsel to managers on performance management approaches that respect cultural differences
  • Foster an engaging organizational culture that promotes talent retention across geographical boundaries
  • Develop strategies to build inclusive workplaces across diverse cultural contexts

Strategic HR Leadership

  • Direct and develop the Global HR team, building capabilities and fostering collaboration
  • Provide dotted-line oversight to HR staff in Country Offices, supporting capacity building and policy implementation
  • Oversee HR operations for US-based and remotely-based staff, coordinating with Employers of Record and PEOs
  • Advise the Senior Management Team on cost-effective approaches to strengthen the global HR function
  • Build and sustain an inclusive, engaged workplace that embraces cultural awareness and sensitivity

🎓 Qualifications & Experience

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required (field not specified)
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • HR certifications such as SPHR or GPHR considered valuable assets

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 10+ years of leadership experience, with at least 5+ years specifically leading HR functions
  • At least 5 years managing teams of various sizes across dispersed locations
  • Demonstrated experience working across different regions, particularly in Africa, Asia, and Latin America
  • Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity in management approaches
  • International nonprofit/NGO experience strongly preferred

📍 Location Flexibility

This position offers exceptional location flexibility with opportunities to be based in Colombia, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, Peru, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, or the United States (NY or DC). There is a slight preference for Colombia, Ghana, Kenya, or Nigeria.

Important Note: Work permit availability varies by country for candidates without permanent work authorization in their preferred location.

💰 Competitive Compensation

IPA offers location-specific compensation structured according to local market conditions: – Colombia-based: 480,000,000-600,000,000 COP annually – Kenya-based: 15,180,000-21,420,000 KES annually – US-based: $124,700-$165,000 USD annually

Actual base salary may vary based on relevant experience, internal peer compensation, business sector, and geographic location.
