Job Description Summary
The University of Sussex is seeking an enthusiastic Research Fellow to join the Co-Centre for Sustainable Food Systems. This role, based at the UK Trade Policy Observatory (UKTPO) in the Business School, focuses on analyzing and developing policies and regulations to support sustainable food systems across Ireland and the UK.

In an era of increasing environmental challenges and food security concerns, the transformation of global food systems towards more sustainable and equitable outcomes is urgently needed. The Co-Centre for Sustainable Food Systems at the University of Sussex is at the forefront of this critical mission, aiming to address economic, social, health, and environmental problems to ensure safe, nutritious food for all.
π The Role: Bridging Policy, Regulation, and Transformation
As a Research Fellow, you will play a pivotal role in the Irish-UK Future Food Systems: Policy, Regulation and Transformation platform. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research that will shape the future of food systems across multiple jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive literature reviews on food system policies and regulations in Northern Ireland
- Identify gaps and overlaps in existing regulatory frameworks
- Collaborate closely with international partners, particularly the Post-Doctoral Fellow at University College Dublin
- Contribute to the development of transformational pathways for policy and regulatory coherence
- Engage in interdisciplinary research to strengthen understanding of current food system policies

The Co-Centre for Sustainable Food Systems brings together academics from diverse disciplines, including natural sciences, trade, economics, politics, and law.
