Job Description Summary

Brighton & Hove City Council is seeking a dedicated Communication Assistant to join their specialist centre at Brighton Aldridge Community Academy. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with students who have communication difficulties, including developmental language disorder and autism.

🎯 Responsibilities

  • Support students in both curriculum and Swan Centre lessons
  • Take on specific roles within the Swan Centre
  • Act as a key worker, responsible for the welfare and education of students with communication difficulties
  • Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Assist in raising the achievement of children with SEN in an inclusive setting
  • Demonstrate positive and sensitive management of students with challenging behavior
  • Collaborate with parents/carers and colleagues from other agencies
  • Adapt to changes and work flexibly as required

💼 Job Details

The position offers: – 34 hours per week, 5 days a week – Working hours: 8:10 am – 3:10 pm (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri) and 8:10 am – 4:10 pm (Wed) – Additional hours available if required – 46 paid weeks per year (inclusive of holiday entitlement) – Start date: September 2024 (to be advised)
