🎓 Academic English Teaching Responsibilities

The successful candidate will join the Centre for Academic English Studies (CAES) at SII and will be expected to:

• Develop innovative teaching methods that foster positive interactions and enhance overall student development
• Plan, deliver, and critically review a range of teaching and assessment activities appropriate to students’ academic levels
• Set and promptly mark coursework, practical sessions, and examinations while providing constructive feedback to students according to assessment criteria and marking rubrics
• Offer regular consultation during weekly office hours (two hours per week during term time) and provide additional extracurricular support for students seeking guidance on academic subjects, assessment advice, or related matters
• Actively participate in peer classroom observations and other staff development initiatives aimed at improving teaching quality

💼 Qualification Requirements for Academic English Lecturers

Essential Qualifications:

• Strong knowledge of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and English for Specific Academic Purposes (ESAP)

📚 Teaching Environment and Schedule

This position involves teaching undergraduate first-year students in groups of 20-28 students. The academic calendar consists of:

• Fall Semester: 20 weeks (September to mid-January)
• Winter Break: 6 weeks (second half of January to February)
• Spring Semester: 20 weeks (March to mid-July)
• Summer Break: 6 weeks (second half of July to August)

Additional breaks include New Year’s Day (January), Tomb Sweeping Day (April), Labour Day (May), Dragon Boat Festival (June), Mid-Autumn Festival (September), and National Holiday (October).
