Job Description Summary

The University of Birmingham Dubai is seeking a Teaching Fellow in English for Academic Purposes to join their expanding team at the new state-of-the-art campus. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the university’s mission of delivering world-class British education in the global hub of Dubai.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare teaching materials, including handouts and VLE resources, aligning with established program objectives
  • Deliver English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses across various programs, including Foundation EAP modules, Academic English in-sessional courses, and Pre-sessional English courses
  • Teach an average of 18 hours per week, with additional time for administrative duties and one-to-one tutorials
  • Monitor students’ academic progress and provide guidance to improve their academic communication skills
  • Contribute to module design and assessment development
  • Provide pastoral care and academic advice to students
  • Participate in continuous professional development activities
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and program improvement initiatives
  • Uphold the principles of the TEAP competency framework developed by BALEAP

Remote Work Policy

This position is based on-site at our Dubai campus. While some aspects of the role may involve digital teaching tools and online collaboration, the primary work location will be our physical campus in Dubai International Academic City.
