Job Description Summary

Swansea University is seeking a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Exercise Physiology to join their Department of Sport and Exercise Sciences. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to research, education, and administration while playing a key role in developing a new MSc program in Clinical Exercise Physiology.

Responsibilities and Opportunities

As a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Exercise Physiology at Swansea University, you’ll be at the forefront of innovative research and education in the field. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting cutting-edge research in clinical exercise physiology
  • Contributing to the development and establishment of the new MSc in Clinical Exercise Physiology
  • Teaching on both postgraduate and undergraduate programs
  • Performing clinical evaluations and prescribing evidence-based interventions
  • Collaborating with colleagues in the Exercise Medicine and Health Research Group
  • Supervising postgraduate research students
  • Participating in departmental administration and management activities

Ideal Candidate Profile

We’re looking for a motivated and experienced individual with:

  • A PhD in Exercise Physiology or a related field
  • Strong expertise in clinical exercise physiology, particularly in working with clinical populations
  • Excellent theoretical knowledge and practical experience in clinical evaluations and interventions
  • Experience in health care assessment, especially cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CEPT)
  • A track record of high-quality research publications
  • Proven teaching experience at the university level
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Experience in at least one of the following areas would be highly desirable: cancer, cardiovascular conditions, frailty, renal health, mental health, metabolic disorders, musculoskeletal conditions, neurological conditions, or respiratory health. We particularly welcome applications from those with expertise in cardiovascular conditions, neurological conditions, or cancer.

Research and Teaching Environment

At Swansea University’s Department of Sport and Exercise Sciences, you’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team of 22 academic staff. The department is known for its excellence in teaching and internationally leading research. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to our BASES-accredited undergraduate program in Sport and Exercise Sciences, as well as play a crucial role in developing the new MSc in Clinical Exercise Physiology.
