Job Description Summary
Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Officer to join their Faculty of Engineering and Technology. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support the Faculty’s objectives in learning, teaching, research, and consultancy while managing technical resources and ensuring health and safety compliance.
Responsibilities
- 🔧 Manage day-to-day work of designated Technical Officers, including administration of leave, sickness, and attendance records
- 🤝 Collaborate with academic staff to support learning, teaching, research, and consultancy objectives
- 🛠️ Oversee the maintenance and effective use of technical resource areas and equipment
- 👥 Provide instruction, guidance, and supervision to staff and students on laboratory equipment and techniques
- 📊 Assist in stock control procedures for equipment, materials, and substances
- 🎓 Support student induction and transition arrangements throughout their academic career
- 🔬 Deliver technical demonstrations, workshops, and practical sessions to students
- 💼 Support planning and delivery of income-generating activities utilizing the Faculty’s technical infrastructure
- 🛡️ Proactively manage Health & Safety in designated technical areas, ensuring compliance with University policies and procedures
