Job Description Summary

Leeds Beckett University is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Specialist in Performing Arts to join their Leeds School of Arts. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide comprehensive technical support to staff and students, ensuring the effective delivery of specialist technical provision in support of teaching, research, and enterprise activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive technical support to staff and students in curriculum delivery, assessments, events, projects, and research activities.
  • Demonstrate and instruct on the use of software, equipment, machinery, materials, and techniques to both students and staff.
  • Conduct inductions on the safe use of equipment, machinery, and other resources.
  • Supervise student activities within school facilities, including off-campus projects.
  • Train and supervise student technical teams during production periods.
  • Liaise with School and University Health and Safety teams to provide local inductions and safety briefings.
  • Assist academic staff in preparing course materials and developing guidelines for practical work.
  • Maintain and operate equipment loan services for staff and students.
  • Advise academic staff on the future development of learning resources.
  • Assist in implementing and documenting standards and procedures for equipment and facilities maintenance.
  • Perform ad-hoc and planned preventative maintenance on specialist equipment.
  • Manage stock, materials, and equipment deliveries, ensuring security and maintaining appropriate records.
  • Collaborate with technical support colleagues in the wider School teams to provide an integrated service.
  • Ensure the tidiness, cleanliness, and safety of all technical support facilities.
  • Maintain compliance with Safety, Health and Wellbeing policies and procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date with professional knowledge in your specialist area.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned by the Technology Support Team Manager or Head of Learning Support.
