Job Description Summary
The University of Sussex is seeking a Quantum Computing Industry Fellow to join their innovative research team. This unique position offers a blend of academic research and industry collaboration, focusing on developing scalable quantum computing solutions using trapped-ion technology.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain ion trap experiments, high-power microwave setups, laser systems, optical setups, and ultra-high vacuum equipment
- Conduct quantum information science experiments and implement quantum error correction protocols
- Perform simulations of quantum systems and develop quantum control strategies
- Contribute to the development of quantum computing microchips and multi-module prototypes
- Raise gate fidelities and improve overall system performance
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students in research projects
- Collaborate closely with industry partners, including the Universal Quantum Group of companies
- Publish research findings in high-impact scientific journals
- Present work at international conferences and workshops
