Job Description Summary
The University of Southampton is seeking a Principal Research Fellow to provide statistical advice to NIHR ARC Themes and oversee statistical aspects of design and analysis for health science projects. This senior role offers an opportunity to lead innovative research, collaborate nationally and internationally, and shape the direction of statistical research within ARC Wessex.
Responsibilities
- Act as a statistical advisor to principal investigators on major projects, defining original research objectives and leading research programmes from design to analysis.
- Develop and maintain a national and international reputation as a research leader in health statistics, disseminating findings through peer-reviewed publications and conferences.
- Provide expert advice and subject leadership as a statistical research advisor for grant applications, collaborating with various disciplines.
- Devise and develop innovative research methodologies and techniques in trial design and analysis.
- Collaborate with colleagues in other institutions and ARC Wessex theme leads to ensure research meets end-user needs.
- Represent ARC Wessex on national groups and facilitate strategic relationships with stakeholders.
- Provide specialist statistical training to ARC Wessex staff for continuing professional development.
