The University of Southampton is seeking a talented Software Engineer (Enterprise Fellow) to join their dynamic team in the Electronics and Computer Science department. Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer (Enterprise Fellow) at the University of Southampton, you will:

• Undertake software development work and provide customer support for a diverse range of clients
• Support and maintain the open-source EPrints platform, a widely-used repository software
• Assist in the development and support of hosted services, including:
  • Django-based systems
  • WordPress/Drupal-based systems
  • Canvas LMS and Jupyter Notebook systems
• Work with various systems and their integrations as required by project needs
• Provide technical support for both technical and non-technical customers
• Assist in the administration of Linux servers running repositories and other services
• Coordinate software development and customer-driven projects

Key Accountabilities

1. Enterprise Activities (70%): Carry out consulting, service provision, testing, and evaluation work. This includes:

   • Undertaking applied software development in a Linux environment
   • Developing and creating EPrints-based repositories and other content management systems
   • Engaging in the full software lifecycle, from requirements elicitation to implementation and testing
   • Providing support to clients using EPrints software and other supported systems

2. Service Maintenance (10%): Support and maintain other Linux-based service instances such as Django, WordPress, Drupal, Canvas LMS, and Jupyter notebook.

3. Documentation (10%): Maintain technical and procedural information in the issue tracking system. Assist in keeping team project and technical documentation up to date.

4. Technical Presentations (5%): Prepare and deliver technical presentations on EPrints software to existing and potential users via Teams or at conferences and workshops.

5. Additional Duties (5%): Perform other related tasks as allocated by the line manager, in consultation with the post holder.
