Job Description Summary

The University of Manchester is seeking a Research Associate to characterize, understand, and optimize the packing of quantum dot (QD) films/coatings for infrared sensing applications, in collaboration with the industry partner Quantum Science Ltd.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize grazing incidence X-ray scattering (GISAXS/GIWAXS) to investigate the structural properties of QD films/coatings at relevant length scales (Å – nm – μm).
  • Conduct small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) experiments and perform model fitting of experimental data using software packages like SASView.
  • Analyze and interpret SAXS/GISAXS/GIWAXS data to understand the packing and performance of QD films/coatings.
  • Collaborate with industry partners to optimize QD film/coating processing for improved infrared sensing performance.
  • Present findings at meetings and conferences, and contribute to the preparation of research publications.
