The Mechanics of Materials Research Group at the University of Leicester is seeking a talented Research Associate to work on an EPSRC-funded program focused on high-temperature creep and creep-fatigue of austenitic stainless steel.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct high-quality research across advanced microstructure characterization, experimental facilities, and computational modeling.
  • Utilize state-of-the-art facilities like the Hercules facility, combining micro-CT with diffraction contrast tomography and laser-assisted focused ion beam, to study microstructural degradation of Type 316 stainless steel under creep-fatigue loads.
