Job Description Summary

Imperial College London is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Associate to join the Thorne Lab, investigating the interactions between emerging viruses and the innate immune system’s frontline defense against infection.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out high-impact discovery research on SARS-CoV-2 and other infectious virus systems
  • Characterize mechanisms of molecules and proteins under investigation using virological, biochemical, and genetic approaches
  • Analyze innate immune sensing and host cell responses during virus replication in cell culture models
  • Develop and apply new concepts, techniques, and apparatus for data collection and analysis
  • Prepare results for publication in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals
  • Provide guidance and supervision to PhD, master’s, and undergraduate students, as well as research assistants
  • Contribute to research grant proposals and collaborate with internal and external research groups
  • Present data at lab meetings, conferences, and seminars
  • Maintain accurate records of experimental work and findings
  • Comply with safety practices and attend relevant training courses
