Job Description Summary
The University of Hull is seeking an experienced Head of Commercialisation and Business Development to lead a newly designed team driving knowledge exchange activities and enhancing income from research commercialization efforts.
Responsibilities
- Manage intellectual property, spinouts, and ongoing relationships with subsidiary companies to maintain the University’s best interests.
- Develop a robust understanding of the University’s research strengths and create a pipeline of commercial opportunities.
- Craft compelling business cases for investment in commercialization projects.
- Lead the negotiation of external funding and investment deals, including administration of key commercial agreements and contracts.
- Provide commercialization expertise to Deans and Heads of School on identifying opportunities for impact and commercialization of the University’s Intellectual Property.
- Implement strategies for the delivery of commercialization decisions, including company formation, spinouts, and licensing.
- Lead and manage the Commercialisation function, including Business Development Managers, Knowledge Exchange Officers, and other specialists.
- Develop and implement strategies for talent retention, succession planning, and career advancement within the team.
