Job Description Summary

The University of Nottingham is seeking talented candidates to undertake a 3-year PhD programme in partnership with the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) to develop a novel miniaturised robotic end-effector for carrying out welding and repairing tasks in confined and challenging spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Intelligent design, manufacturing, and testing of a miniaturised robotic end-effector for repair in confined spaces
  • Collaborate with industrial partners to improve the quality of mechatronics applications within the nuclear and fusion industries
  • Conduct research, analysis, and development of precision mechatronics systems and algorithms
  • Perform kinematic and dynamic analysis of mechanical/robotic systems
  • Implement control and kinematics with hardware-in-the-loop
