Job Description Summary

The University of Nottingham is seeking a highly motivated and innovative PhD candidate to join the Centre for Additive Manufacturing research group for an exciting project focused on developing functional 3D/4D-printed responsive structures.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new materials and designs for functional 4D-printed devices with fast, self-resetting responses
  • Explore encoding multiple “trigger” stimuli and corresponding shape-change responses in complex devices
  • Build a functional demonstrator device that performs basic comparisons of inputs to select output shape-change responses
  • Engage in interdisciplinary research, combining 3D printing, physics, and materials science
  • Conduct experiments, data analysis, and report writing
