Job Description Summary

The University of Nottingham is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior IP Commercialisation Executive to join its dynamic IP Commercialisation Office. This role is focused on supporting the identification, protection, and commercial exploitation of intellectual property arising from the academic research base, primarily in the form of patents and know-how within the Engineering and Physical Sciences portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Provide IP-related advice to members of the academic community, promoting the importance of IP and technology transfer to the Schools and Faculties within the portfolio.
  • Identify and assess the commercial potential of new IP disclosures through undertaking legal and commercial due diligence, including reviewing prior art and market potential.
  • Advise members of the IP Management team on the filing and ongoing prosecution of patents within the portfolio.
  • Formulate robust, timely patent prosecution and IP commercialization plans around new technologies, working closely with inventors to implement and progress these plans.
  • Assist inventors in identifying and securing translational funding, including providing support for the Nottingham Impact Accelerator.
  • Progress commercialization plans from identifying potential licensees through to successfully negotiating new license deals, ensuring technologies are licensed as widely as possible in all potential fields of application.
  • Manage relationships with licensees and ensure progress on the development of technologies to full commercialization.
  • Contribute to broader team and departmental objectives as required.
