Job Description Summary
The University of Nottingham is seeking a talented and experienced Assistant Finance Manager to join their Professional Services Team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing effective and efficient operational financial management, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial data, and collaborating closely with various teams to ensure compliance and financial excellence.
Responsibilities
- Provide financial and business advice to senior staff within business units, reviewing funding sources, and offering educational support to develop financial management skills.
- Partner with budget holders to prepare annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and conduct detailed budget discussions and variance analyses.
- Prepare management and year-end accounts, oversee project monitoring, coordinate month-end processes, and produce insightful financial reports and commentary.
- Manage financial systems to ensure accurate recording and compliance with accounting policies and standards, advising on the implementation of appropriate controls.
- Establish effective communication and regular contact with key staff, representing the team within the University and providing expert guidance on financial policies and procedures.
- Identify and address development needs, provide mentoring to junior staff, communicate best practices, and educate staff on financial systems, procedures, and policies.
