Job Description Summary

The University of Essex Campus Services Limited is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated Cleaner to join their Soft FM Services team in delivering high-quality cleaning services across the university’s academic, administrative, and residential buildings.

Responsibilities

• Perform various cleaning tasks such as cleaning seminar rooms, offices, toilets, corridors, lifts, laboratories, meeting rooms, and gymnasiums to meet the specified cleaning standards.
• Replenish consumables like soap, hand sanitizers, and toilet rolls.
• Clean external areas and collect refuse and recyclables.
• Report any faults or maintenance issues.
• Operate mechanical cleaning equipment (after receiving appropriate training).
• Provide cleaning support for university events, such as graduations, open days, receptions, and summer conferences.
• Respond to emergency cleaning requests, including handling floods, offensive waste, and sharp objects.
• Participate in all required training programs provided by Soft FM Services.
• Support other Soft FM Services groups as needed.
• Follow health and safety guidelines, including COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health), PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), Working at Heights, and Kinetic Manual Handling.
• Ensure safe storage of cleaning materials and equipment, and use only approved cleaning materials listed in the COSHH register.
