Job Description Summary

The University of Leeds is seeking an early career researcher for the role of Research Fellow in Cement Clinker. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a cutting-edge research project focused on understanding the formation and solid solutions of novel monophase and polyphase cement clinkers, enabling industrial manufacturing of fast-reacting clinker from side streams such as steel slags.

Responsibilities

  • Advance the understanding of magnesium-based construction materials and their production processes.
  • Design and implement an experimental program to produce and test cement materials.
  • Manage data collection, storage, and maintain comprehensive records of research work.
  • Record and analyze research data, and present findings to the project lead and research team.
  • Generate and pursue independent and original research ideas in the relevant subject area.
  • Develop research objectives, proposals, and contribute to setting the direction of the research project.
  • Evaluate methods, techniques, and results obtained by other researchers, relating them to your own research.
  • Prepare papers for publication in leading international journals and disseminate research results through various recognized forms.
  • Make significant contributions to the dissemination of research results through publications and presentations at national and international conferences.
  • Work independently and as part of a larger research team, developing new collaborations and engaging in knowledge transfer activities.
  • Maintain your professional development and act as a mentor to less experienced colleagues.
  • Contribute to the training of undergraduate and postgraduate students, including assisting with project supervision in relevant areas.
