Job Description Summary

The University of Leeds is seeking a talented Research Assistant to join its Institute of Functional Surfaces within the School of Mechanical Engineering. This role focuses on developing and implementing novel technologies to enhance the understanding of surfactant partitioning and inhibition mechanisms in CO2-containing aqueous media.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently to perform corrosion experiments for surfactant performance evaluation and characterization.
  • Implement test methodologies to improve the understanding of corrosion inhibitor performance in aqueous systems, such as Liquid Chromatography – Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS).
  • Carefully document methods and results suitable for review by researchers, the supervisory team, and industry partners.
  • Support research activities, contribute to research results and outputs, and generate original ideas for successful investigation.
  • Contribute data towards the development of reports and presentations.
  • Write reports, conduct literature reviews, and prepare papers for publication, with guidance as necessary.
  • Collate and analyze data to inform the direction and progression of the research project.
  • Participate in the research group and present research outputs where appropriate.
  • Work both independently and as part of a larger team of researchers and stakeholders, engaging in knowledge transfer activities.
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures, health and safety regulations, and quality assurance procedures.
  • Continuously update knowledge, understanding, and skills in the research field.
  • Contribute to the research culture of the Institute and the School, where appropriate.
